Pilot Butte Library April 14, 2004

The skies cleared right after the presentation to the 18 attendees.  The planets were especially pretty.


International Astronomy Day April 24, 2004

James Edgar and Alden Foraie braved the 70 km/h winds to offer looks at the sun and terrestrial objects.

The indoor display was set up at the Sandra Schmirler Leisure Centre from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

There were a few sunspots visible through the telescopes for the public to see.

The next generation of astronomers get some hands-on experience!

Carter Smith offering views of the moon through is 8-inch telescope on Saturday night.

Many visitors stopped by to admire the night sky both Friday and Saturday night.

The telescopes were set up in front of the Kramer IMAX theatre so movie goers got an extra special treat.


Sedley School/Library April 26, 2004

Scott Wilson gave a great presentation to the children in the Sedley School gymnasium.

Taking a look at the planets through Michael Plante's 10" dobsonian.

Many mistook Venus for the moon through the 20" telescope.  The phases of the moon and Venus were the same that night.


Cub Scout Camp May 29, 2004

Vance Petriew gave a presentation out in the middle of the field to many cub scouts.

A few clouds were in the sky but there were still great views of the moon and planets.


Canada Day in the Park 2004

It was a mostly cloudy day but there were still interesting terrestrial objects to look at.  There were also nice sunspot groups when the sun did appear.

The "Out" on top of the legislature building was a popular target.  Everyone was able to pick out the color of the shipping label on a box from 750 meters away.

Saskatchewan Summer Star Party Public Nights August 2004

There were no pictures taken at this event but over the course of two evenings at the star party, we had approximately 500 general public visitors taking a look through the club's telescopes.


Sunrise Library September 22, 2004

The Sunrise Library had an excellent display of Astronomy books.  The "Backyard Astronomer's Guide" in the center is an excellent book on astronomy.

Michael Holzer gave a 45 minute presentation about galaxies and the size of the universe.

Bob Brann has his telescope ready to go for observing after the presentation.

Paul Meyer was also on hand with his 9.25" Celestron telescope.  The skies were great and the 50 people in attendance really enjoyed the views.
