International Astronomy Day April 16, 2005

We set up telescopes in the Southland Mall for Astronomy Day.  We had many of people stop by to talk to us about astronomy.

The sky was clear so we were able to look at sunspots through the central skylight.

This was our first time setting up our new public display board.

During the evening, we set up telescopes in front of the Saskatchewan Science Centre.

Visitors eagerly waited for the telescopes to get set up and the sky to darken.

Canada Day in the Park 2005

The sun was visible most of the day so we had lots of visitors of all ages.  Our club had 3 telescopes set up to handle the volumes of people that came over for a look.

There are lots of free brochures about astronomy for anyone that stops by.

The sunspots actually changed shape throughout the day as we watched them through the telescopes.  We use special solar filters protect our eyes from the dangerous rays of the sun.
